Bia Med is a Baby-Tech & Fem-Tech health startup developing innovative breast monitoring technology – a "Smart Bra" – that will provide women with personalized feedback on key physiological changes in their breasts. Bia’s first product, a Smart Maternity Bra, targets a global pain with massive negative economic and public health effects (infant mortality of 800,000 children a year, as well as $300 billion in annual economic losses), resulting from a high rate of early breastfeeding abandonment. The WHO aims to have 70% of mothers breastfeeding exclusively for the first six months (up from just 25% today). Bia’s smart bra delivers a proven way to increase mothers' self-confidence and empower them to continue breastfeeding. Bia’s solution combines continuous passive physiological breast monitoring capabilities with AI-based insight, offering a user-friendly technology that reinvents the breastfeeding experience by providing mothers with daily feedback on the infant’s milk intake and interactive guidance on coping with difficulties. By boosting mothers’ confidence, Bia will significantly increase the percentage of breastfed infants.
